David and Belinda 's Story:
David has been out of work for 14 months. With only my small social security check for disability coming in each month, you can imagine how hard it has been to keep up with our responsibilities. We have faced great financial trials throughout this time, but God has always been there to meet the seemingly impossible need and to bring us through. He has helped us to be able to sell things we needed to sell or He had a family member show up with what we needed when we never even spoke the need. God has been so faithful.
The last few months our electric bill has skyrocketed; almost doubling what it has normally been, so we have been unable to keep up with it. A couple of weeks ago after Saturday night service, David and I both felt the need to have someone pray with us. As we headed up front, we passed a dear friend and David's mentor Andy Ynes. As Andy began to pray with us, he learned of the critical need we had with our electric bill. Andy just said, "Everything's going to be alright, let's pray." As we all began to pray together, the words Andy spoke brought such a peace to my heart. I knew God was going to use Andy in some way. A couple of days later, Andy called and put us in touch with someone from the church family that was able to help us. As it worked out, several people of the Grace Family Church bound together to meet our need and we were able to pay the electric bill in full. Their act of kindness will never be forgotten and we will tell always of God's faithfulness to us during a time of great struggle.
After church last weekend, we too wanted to find a way to be a blessing to someone. Since David loves to cook, we went to the grocery & got everything we needed to make lasagna to take over to our elderly neighbor & her family. What a joy it was to be a blessing to someone in such a way! They were so surprised. We told them "God has been so faithful to us that we wanted to reach out & be a blessing as well." David has landed a new job and with his first check in November, we will find a way to be a blessing to someone in need. These last few months have been so difficult, but I have seen such growth in David's life that he is almost a different person in the Lord. He has not been a Christian all that long so there were a few times that I wondered, "Will he understand that God has a bigger purpose for this time in our lives or will he become bitter and angry?" There were a few times over this last year when the enemy would even grip my heart with panic and fear over losing the house or losing a car or having an unpaid bill...David was right there to remind me of God's faithfulness. He has grown so much in the Lord. There are not even words for me to convey the fullness in my heart knowing that God is faithful. My words to anyone that is struggling through something similar to what we have gone through: Hold fast to God's faithfulness ...keep true to your tithe and your offerings to Him...no matter how small because the Lord knows your heart and He sees what you give...you can NEVER out give the Lord.
